This Privacy Policy explains how Image to Text: Smart Summaries (the “App” or "Smart Summaries"), developed and operated by Dzianis Kuziomkin (“we”, “us”, or “our”), collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the App and related services.

By using the App, you agree to the processing of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please do not use the App.

1. Overview

Image to Text: Smart Summaries is a document interpretation app that helps users understand text from photos by extracting, summarizing, and translating documents. The App is designed to prioritize user privacy and operates without user accounts, proprietary backend servers, or centralized databases.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

Smart Summaries does not collect, store, or process:

• Personal identifiers (such as name, email address, or phone number).
• Account credentials or profile information.
• Usage analytics, behavioral tracking, or session data.
• Device identifiers for advertising (IDFA).
• Location data.
• Payment or billing information (processed solely by the App Store).

We do not operate backend servers that store user data.

3. Document Data & AI Processing

When you scan or upload a document using the App:

• Local Storage: The document image, extracted text, and generated summaries are stored locally on your device. You remain fully in control of this data and may delete it at any time by removing content within the App or uninstalling the App.
• AI Processing: To provide summaries and translations, the App transmits the extracted text or image data to a third-party AI provider, Google (provider of the Gemini API).
• No Retention by Us: We do not store your documents, text, or summaries on our own servers. The transmission to the AI provider is transient and performed solely to generate the response.

4. Third-Party Services

Smart Summaries uses the following third-party services to function:

Google Gemini API (Generative AI)

• Purpose: To analyze document text and generate summaries/translations.
• Data Shared: Image data or text extracted from your documents.
• Privacy: Data sent to the API is used to generate the response. We have configured our implementation to minimize data retention, but data processing is subject to Google’s privacy terms. We do not authorize third parties to use your data for training public AI models.

Apple App Store

• Purpose: To process payments and manage subscriptions.
• Data Shared: Payment transactions are handled entirely by Apple. We do not have access to your credit card or billing details.

Smart Summaries does not use third-party analytics tools (like Google Analytics or Mixpanel), tracking SDKs, or advertising networks.

5. Data Security

Because Smart Summaries does not maintain external servers for user data, your documents remain on your device. When data is transmitted to the AI provider for processing, it is sent via secure encryption (HTTPS/TLS).

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

6. Children’s Privacy

Smart Summaries is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Your Rights

Since Smart Summaries does not collect, sync, or store personal data on our servers, we do not hold any personal data to access, modify, or delete. You have full control over your data; deleting a document inside the App or uninstalling the App permanently removes the data from your device.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the App or legal requirements. Any updates will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
